Review #8 Novel Sang Alkemis, Paulo Coelho

Still with the novels of Paulo Coelho, but now it's the turn of The Alchemist. If you know him, you may so familiar with this one. Yap, this is one of the best work of him. Because of this, he was known as one of the influential writers in the world.

How it can be? This may answer the question, so let's talk about it!

The novel talks about a shepherd that follow his dream to find the treasure. Every time he tries to achieve the treasure, there's always something happened in his journey. Really unpredictable. He meets a king incidentally, talks with his face to face. He has given a precious stone that not many people have. He already has so much money to achieve his dream, but then he was robbed and he starts to work in a crystal shop. He had the temptation to stay because he finds a comfort zone.

He feels uncertain but finally, he decided to continue to find the treasure. He meets the stranger who also wants to achieve the dream. They become a friend and then he goes to the desert and finds the alchemist. The mysterious person who becomes his teacher. During his journey in the desert, he also finds a woman he truly loves.

What really interesting is unconscious he learns a language of nature in his journey. I really couldn't understand if there's someone who can speak with the wind, or the sun, or the sand. But when you read this one, it feels like really happened. Maybe it feels like that because we live as one with nature but we never realize that.

The most important thing is, the message that he tries to show us about life. We could say the shepherd is us, a human who lives in the world. This life is a journey. Sometimes we get lost or sometimes we feel like we know everything.

Sometimes we feel like we know what we need, what we like or not, but after you achieve that, there may be a question, what is all of that? Besides that, he tries to make us realize that the real treasure is the journey itself.

When we try to achieve something, we forget everything else. Like how to enjoy happiness, the pain, the moment. And after we could realize that, we would feel full of lessons. It would be becoming us to the real identity of ourself and we could see the point of our life. And that's what the shepherd finally have in the story.

So, it tells us to be okay to take a break along our journey, or maybe it what we should do. Also, when we feel like lost, it's okay just to follow the path, not really think hard about them. Because everything, including nature, will gonna help us to go back to the real treasure is.

That's what I learn from this. Actually, in my opinion, this novel can relate to everyone's life, so then many people love to read this book. And the way he describes it? Maybe we shouldn't talk about it anymore. He always has a mild and gentle way to tell the story, so it's easy to understand every word he said.

Well, I have known this book since a long time ago, but I choose to not read this one as my first bite for the creation of him, because it may build my expectation too high, so then I couldn't enjoy the next books of him. But I realize that it's not gonna happened after reading four books of him because every piece of his creation never disappointed me.
